“These updates may make clear, and probably increase, protection of recent entities within the digital asset ecosystem which may be working in areas of precise or perceived ambiguity with respect to their [Bank Secrecy Act] obligations,” he wrote. “A remaining proposal would explicitly present Treasury’s Workplace of Overseas Property Management the authority to deploy secondary sanctions, an impactful and versatile instrument, towards digital asset companies doing enterprise with sanctioned entities.”
