Witness in Nigerian trial against Binance accuses platform of contravening Central Bank rules

Olubukola Akinwumi, the deputy director of the Central Financial institution of Nigeria (CBN), accused Binance of conducting transactions reserved for licensed banks and monetary establishments on Friday, in response to an area media report.

Detailing how the P2P transactions happen by way of the Binance platform, Akinwumi defined that such transactions had been in opposition to the CBN’s guidelines. It’s value noting, nonetheless, that Binance discontinued its P2P function for Nigerians following authorities scrutiny in February.

Binance, the witness reminded, is just not licensed by the CBN as a cost service supplier.

Akinwumi is ready to be cross-examined on July 16, when the trial resumes.
